“...E nei ricordi abbancinanti di una certa stagione

i cui giorni parevan eterni come la luce d’estate”

“A / IN THE BEGINNING IT WAS SUMMER” IS THE SECOND CHAPTER OF THE TRILOGY OF BONDS AND DEALS WITH THE RELATIONSHIP, WHICH IS EXPERIENCED BUT BARELY PERCEIVED IN ITS FULLNESS, BETWEEN TWO VERY DISTANT GENERATIONS. AN HARDLY DECIPHERABLE AND PARTICULARLY DIFFICULT COMMUNICATION BETWEEN A MAN OF THIRTY YEARS AND A WOMAN OF OVER ONE HUNDRED WHOM I HAVE TRIED TO INVESTIGATE THROUGH COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS AND BLACK AND WHITE VIDEOS, READING DETAILS OF LIFE, LOOKS AND SIGNS OF A LIVED EXPERIENCE, IN SEARCH OF A WIDER SENSE AND IN AN ATTEMPT TO REDUCE THAT DISTANCE.

IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF HER WORDS, BUT LOOKING INTO MY GRANDMOTHER'S EYES I TRY TO IMAGINE HER THOUGHTS AND FIND HAGGARD MEMORIES OF LIFE HELD TOGETHER BY THE WEIGHT OF A VERY LONG EXISTENCE AND BY THE DEEP DESIRE TO LIVE A LAST SEASON LOVED. I TRIED TO READ THOSE MOODS AND FEELINGS BY COMPARING HER AND MY SUMMER.
